Situated on a 1000 acre working farm near Queenstown, South Africa, the Usiba Safaris’ base camp is a cluster of inviting structures. The guestrooms are spacious areas designed for guests who want to be in Africa but who don’t care to rough it. The Safari Den is the social focal point where years of personal sporting history are on display. In Africa the boma is obligatory. Once a safe place to harbor livestock from dangerous game the safari boma is now the primary outdoor entertainment area. Around the open fire in the boma with the Southern Cross constellation overhead the events of the safari day are rehearsed, embellished, and eventually enlarged in an attempt to contain the wonder.
